In the book “Sociology: Dictionary of Terms and Concepts” (Kyiv, 2006) sociology is defined as “the science of general and specific laws and regularities of the organization, functioning and development of historically defined social systems, the mechanisms of their actions and forms of manifestation in the activities of people, social communities and society as a whole, about the personality in its social interactions, about the social life of individuals” (pp. 142-143). The Educational, Scientific and Production Laboratory “Mykolaiv Center for Sociological Research” of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University employs highly skilled specialists in the field of sociology, having scientific degrees and academic titles, and who are members of the Sociological Association of Ukraine. Employees of the center provide consultations on various issues of sociological science (both theoretical and empirical).
Over the years of its work, the ESPL “Mykolaiv Center for Sociological Research” has gained considerable experience in conducting sociological consultations. In particular, representatives of non-governmental organizations are appealing to the center at the stage of submitting applications for grants (both Ukrainian and foreign), as often donors require the conduct of sociological research within the projects. Employees of the center provide qualified consultations for NGOs in the city of Mykolaiv on methodology and techniques of sociological research. The ESPL “Mykolaiv Center for Sociological Research” of the Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University offers enterprises, organizations, and other interested persons from the city of Mykolaiv and other cities of Ukraine services for conducting sociological consultations on a contracting basis.
